Leaving
a Great Legacy
Thank you for considering a gift
to AsiaLink. The priority of any
legacy should always be to provide
for your relatives and dependents.
However, if you have resources to
give after providing for family,
AsiaLink would be honoured to use
them.
Making a Will:
It is possible to prepare your own
Will using stationary packs available
from leading high-street stationers,
however, to ensure the wording is
accurate, clear and as you intend,
we recommend you use a solicitor.
It is straightforward and should
not require a lot of time, especially
if you have important details to
hand such as AsiaLink's registered
address and Charity number.
To make a legacy to AsiaLink as
part of your Will, or to change your
Will to include such a legacy, you
will find below wording that you
chould use. All legacies received
by AsiaLink are free from Inheritance
Tax.
Different types of Gift:
- You can make a specific gift
of a particular item of property
you own. You should make sure that
it is clearly identified in your
will.
- Alternatively, you can leave
a gift of a fixed amount of money
. (Some prefer not to do this as
inflation will gradually reduce the
value of the gift.)
- Or, you can make a gift from
the residue (or remainder) of your
estate – for example, one third
of the residue to Charity X and one
third each to Y and Z, etc. The residue
is whatever is left over after all
other legacies have been paid, together
with all debts, liabilities, costs
and tax.
