AsiaLink support projects across Asia

AsiaLink has worked hard to develop partners across Asia who lead critically important, well monitored and effective ministries. Select a country or region from the list below (or using the interactive map on the right) for more information on how you or your group can be involved in creating change among some of the most unreached peoples on earth.

Country backgrounds are also available on these pages.  These will broaden understanding of the context for ministries.

Also we have two special projects which we invite you to support - The Asia Workers Fund (see below) and Tsunami Projects (see right)

Asian Workers' Fund

What: Partnering with pioneer Asian Evangelists where financial constraints are seriously limiting outreach.

Why: Asian churches give their tithes and offerings. Many are committed to pushing back the frontiers of the Church into communities and people groups where there is no serious witness. And there is no real shortage of volunteers for the task. However, the economy of many places like rural Nepal, Kashmir or Burma is so poor that here is little or nothing left for “big” expenses such as sending an evangelist or a missionary to an unreached area. In other cases, the church may have enough just to send the worker to the field, but is unable to maintain them once they are there.

In China, some house church evangelists have even sold their own blood at the hospital, receiving just a few pence as payment. They then buy a few meals with this money, giving them enough strength to continue to preach the Gospel for another week or two. Some have fainted from hunger. These servants of the Lord have given their whole lives to the Gospel.

Target Peoples: This is an Asia-wide project. One group where excellent ministry is taking place is the 47,000 Monpa in Bhutan - a collection of six different groups, each speaking their own dialect. They originally came from Tibet . In fact, a similar number (about 40,000) of Monpas still live inside China today. It is estimated that the number of Monpa believers can be counted on one hand. The Asian Workers Fund is helping Naga missionaries to serve among the Monpa - reaching out to some of the most neglected people in the world.

Cost: Support is controlled by local indigenous leadership and limited in amount and duration. The Asian Workers' Fund assists many of those workers who are doing strategic work in Asia. Please pray about whether you, your family, home fellowship or church could help support one or more of these workers with £25 per month each. 100% of your gifts go to the workers in need.

Prayer: For daily courage where there is strong opposition.

Tsunami Projects

What: It may be two years on but work continues in Banda Aceh. The initial rescue work from the effects of the December 2004 tsunami has now moved into rehabilitation efforts. The Church is uniquely positioned to minister in these circumstances. Construction and medical work is ongoing, as is the opportunity to counsel and care. There have also been some unusual openings for evangelism and now Bible teaching and leadership development among groups who had previously only experienced very minimal contact with the Gospel. Some of this work is extremely sensitive.

Why: AsiaLink partners are working in many of those areas around South East Asia that were most severely affected by the waves and there have been some very encouraging openings for Christian ministry as a result. We are keen to pursue these openings and will continue to invest in tsunami-affected areas while these doors remain open.
