Reaching China’s lost generation (Christmas 2003)

What a difference you have made! Thanks to your faithful support and response to our recent appeal, more than 8000 new Bibles are being printed and delivered into the hands of Believers in China. Some will reach elderly men and women who were saved many years ago and have never had, or even seen, a copy of the Word of God. Then there will be many new Christians who will excitedly begin to explore the Scriptures for the first time. So on their behalf, thank you for working together to bring hope and encouragement to so many.

This Christmas we are turning our attention to the children and young people of China. For over 50 years China has not allowed Sunday Schools or Christian education, the Communist Party knows if they can convince children God doesn't exist, they will have won them for life.
Just think about it. Over 500 million children - the future of China - and they need to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Studies show that 80% of all Christians heard the Gospel between the ages of four and 14.

Now, together we can make a difference in the lives of thousands of young Chinese boys and girls. God has opened an extraordinary opportunity to print, inside China on underground presses, an initial run of 100,000 copies of The Wonderful Story. This 48 page full colour, culturally sensitive storybook details the life of Jesus from His birth to His death and resurrection along with the story of the apostle Paul and his commitment to serving Christ.
This is a MAJOR EVANGELISM PROJECT for AsiaLink and our friends and partners. We believe the story of Jesus as told in The Wonderful Story will touch and change thousands of lives.

The clear Gospel message with the use of pictures and stories makes The Wonderful Story a simple but powerful evangelistic tool for reaching China's children and their families who do not know Jesus Christ. Working with the house churches, this book will be distributed to children and their families in 15 different provinces throughout China.

Together, we have an opportunity to introduce thousands of children and their parents to the Lord through this special children's book. Our goal is to print 100,000 copies inside China immediately.

Will you help touch this generation of Chinese children with God's love? This Christmas you can reach into Chinese homes with what might be that family's only opportunity to hear about Jesus. What a priceless gift!

What will it cost? Each 100 copies of The Wonderful Story will cost just £16 to print in China. Our target is £16,000 to get this first batch into the hands of China's children as soon as possible. Whether you are able to give a little or a lot, by working together we can give the greatest gift possible to the children of China this Christmas.

Huang Wei's life changed

China encourages families to have just one child and usually these children get a lot of attention and become spoilt. One couple - he was a headmaster and she a teacher - had a son who refused to obey his teachers or parents. The parents did all they could to change him, but his behaviour only became worse with time.

Some friends of Huang Wei asked him to come with them to the local Sunday school. (A few more lenient cities do allow restricted worship and even Sunday schools to meet, but most are secretly held by the underground house church.) Huang Wei listened carefully to stories about Jesus. The Holy Spirit worked in his heart and he was born again. His whole life changed and he became a humble and obedient boy.

His parents went to the church and told the pastor that they would also like to know the kind of God who could change their son. The pastor explained the Gospel and they repented and came to know the Lord.

Today Huang Wei is very strong in his faith. One minister told us that in seventeen cases at his church, first a child came to Sunday school and found Jesus, then later the parents also came to church, were born again and joined the congregation.
